● Social contribution activities

Japan

The SCREEN Group actively promotes industry-academia-government collaboration. We collaborate with the national government, local communities, universities, and educational institutions to carry out a variety of activities that contribute to society.

Environmental conservation
 Since 2022, we have been supporting the “Aim for Zero CO2 Challenge!” sponsored by Kyoto Prefecture and aimed at elementary school students to get them thinking about global warming prevention.
 In 2022, in collaboration with the Lake Biwa Museum of Shiga Prefecture and Seian University of Art and Design, we have taught children about biodiversity by producing game-based teaching materials and holding workshops.
 Since 2020, we have sponsored the “Aquarium Supporter” campaign of the Lake Biwa Museum Micro Aquarium. We also co-sponsor a microorganism observation event with the Lake Biwa Museum to provide biodiversity education.
 In 2017, we signed an agreement on using and preserving forests, and we are cooperating in advancing functions of forests that benefit the public good, such as by promoting the “Kyoto Model Forest program.”
 Since 2018, we have been participating in the “Kyoto Life and Culture Collaborative Rejuvenation Project” run by the city of Kyoto. We are promoting the cultivation of endangered rare plants by planting garden beds at our head office in Kyoto.
 Since 2016, we have been a sponsor of the Kyoto Municipal Zoo as a feed sponsor.

Support for the development of the next generation and education
 Since 2021, we have been dispatching our engineers as technical CEOs to Hikone Technical High School, an accredited school under the “Meister System” of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.
 Since 2020, under a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Kyoto Prefecture, we cooperated in the “Kyoto Entrepreneur Challenge,” in which elementary and junior high school students compete by submitting business proposals for solving familiar problems.
 Since 2009, we have been providing educational support for elementary school students through Manufacturing Workshop Learning at the Kyoto Manufacturing Hall of Fame.
 We are actively involved in human resource development based on a comprehensive cooperation agreement with Kyoto University of Advanced Science.​​​​​​​
 We have signed an agreement with Kyoto Institute of Technology for comprehensive technology exchange and are working to solve problems in the local community through implementation of technology within society.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 We have concluded a comprehensive cooperation agreement with the Doshisha Business School and are to promote an "MBA Education Functional Enhancement Project" through Industry-Academia Collaboration.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 We have signed an agreement on comprehensive partnership and collaboration in data science and other areas with Kyoto Women’s University.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 We are attending the “corporate CSR practice exercise” at Ryukoku University and engaged students in a dialog.​​​​​​​

Support and promotion of sports
 Since 2019, we have been sponsoring the “Kyoto Football Association” which is dedicated to promoting and fostering the development of soccer and other sports in Kyoto Prefecture.​​​​​​​
 We began volunteering as an organization for the Kyoto Marathon, held in Kyoto City, in 2018 and began sponsoring it in 2019. It started up again—the first time in three years—in February 2023, where SCREEN Group employees volunteered to help run the event by providing support to all race participants.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Since 2019, we have been supporting “Sanga Tsunagari-tai,” a hands-on program in which Kyoto Sanga F.C. sends instructors to elementary school classes to help students learn communication skills and other skills through soccer.​​​​​​​
 Since 2018, we have been supporting Koji Yamazaki, a member of the Japanese national field hockey team. We also sponsor “Blue Sticks Shiga” field hockey team based in Hikone City, Shiga Prefecture.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Since 2014, we have been sponsoring the “Kyoto Ladies Open,” a golf tournament that is part of the JLPGA Step Up Tour.​​​​​​​

Support and promotion of science and culture
 Since 2020, we have been sponsoring the “Kyoto Very Special Arts Festival,” hosted by Kyoto Prefecture as a place where people with disabilities can make the most of their individuality and talent.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Since 2018, we have been a sponsor of the museum partner system of the Kyoto National Museum.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Since 2017, we have been supporting the NPO “Genius Art KYOTO (Research Organization for the Promotion of Art for People with Disabilities)” for the purpose of supporting artistic activities by people with disabilities. In 2022, we signed an official agreement to this effect.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 We are a sponsor of the Museum of Astronomical Telescopes in Kagawa Prefecture, which preserves and displays valuable astronomical telescopes.​​​​​​​

Other promotion and support
 Since 2022, SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has run a matching gift program under which SCREEN Group employees make donations that it matches and then donates to protect and support refugees.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 In 2023, we made donations to eight orphanages in Kyoto Prefecture of rice that we grew and harvested. We began growing rice as a result of our participation in the Kyoto Model Forest program (since 2017).​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 We regularly renew our stores of emergency food, and since 2018, we have donated the surplus to food banks to support people in need.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Since 2010, we have been supporting the “TABLE FOR TWO” initiative, in which one school lunch is delivered to a child in a developing country for every designated meal consumed in our cafeteria. Since 2010, we have provided a total of more than 210,000 meals.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 The SCREEN Group supports the “PHP Thoughtfulness for Others” campaign, and, as part of this, collects used stamps, which are then sent to the secretariat. The used stamps are sold to collectors and the proceeds are used to raise funds.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 The SCREEN Group conducts regular cleanups and beautification activities around each of its facilities.​​​​​​​
 

North America

SCREEN SPE USA, LLC (SEUS)
 SEUS collected $2,000 in donations ($1,500 from employees and $500 from the company), which went to causes such as meals and travel expenses for hospital visits for retired military personnel, home repairs for needy families, and improvement for facilities for the disabled.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 SEUS nationwide employees purchased toys, which were donated to local charity organizations.

SCREEN GP Americas, LLC
 The company took part in four events through the Fellowship Housing charity to gather clothing, food, daily necessities, and school supplies in support of families of low-income single mothers.​​​​​​​

Europe

SCREEN SPE Germany GmbH (SEDE)
 SEDE donated 39 used laptops to an NPO, which makes the necessary repairs to the laptops and uses them to teach computer skills to low-income people.
 SEDE donated 1,000 euros to a support organization called Sternstunden (“wonderful moment”). The money was obtained by purchasing from employees company cell phones they no longer used.

SCREEN SPE Israel Ltd. (SEIL)
 Twelve SEIL employees did volunteer work for Lev Yehudi Ham, which provides needy households with food baskets.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 Sixteen employees of SEIL donated 14,169 NIS to Latat, which supports needy households, Holocaust survivors, and victims of war.

Asia

SCREEN HD Korea Co., Ltd.
 Company employees volunteered to make kimchi to donate to a seniors’ center.

SCREEN PE China Co., Ltd.
 The company took part in a program to reduce waste through responsible consumption and production, sponsored by the Ministry of Ecology and Environment.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
 The company took part in Earth Hour 2024, sponsored by WWF–Hong Kong.

SCREEN SPE Korea Co., Ltd.
 The company offered financial support for operations, hospital stays, medical care, and other expenses for homes with sick children.​​​​​​​
 The company gave financial support (lesson fees, contest entry fees) to help develop the talents of children taking vocal training.

SCREEN SPE Taiwan Co., Ltd.
 The company held health promotion activities for employees, and collected 150,000 TWD to donate to the “Taiwan Fund for Children” and Families and the “Huashan Social Welfare Foundation.”​​​​​​​
 Eighty-three employees took part in beach cleanup activities on December 2, 2023, picking up 228.44 kg of garbage.
