Kyoto, Japan – January 11, 2024 – SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced it recently received renewed approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) regarding its updated targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by FY2030. The SBTi is an international initiative to prevent global warming by setting GHG reduction targets that are based on scientific evidence.

In 2020, SCREEN received approval from the SBTi for its targets to reduce GHG emissions to a level required to keep the global temperature rise to well below 2ºC above pre-industrial levels. SCREEN has now received approval for new targets that are consistent with the level required to keep the global temperature rise to 1.5ºC. The Group’s recently revised targets are shown below.

To contribute to the decarbonization and sustainable development of global society, the SCREEN Group has been implementing climate change initiatives at a pace that will help to keep global temperature rise below 1.5℃.
