Kyoto, Japan – September 14, 2023 – SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has decided to add a new building within the Hikone Plant site to create an extra space for the production of hydrogen-related equipment and components, administrative office, and other facilities.

The new building will be constructed in the area used by the display production equipment and coater business (collectively called the “FT business”), after demolishing the current old building. We will expand the space for the production of hydrogen-related equipment and components, such as cell stacks for water electrolysis and membrane electrode assembly (MEA) for fuel cells, where future growth is expected. Furthermore, we will establish a new administrative office within the same building to accommodate the increase of people in the growing semiconductor production equipment (SPE) business. The new building will be connected to one of the production facilities for the SPE business, S3-2, by a corridor to enable smooth movement within the site.

We will also continue our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our production facilities, through such means as introducing energy-saving air conditioners, toward the achievement of the Science Based Targets (SBT)*.

* Science Based Targets (SBT) initiative is an international movement to counter global warming by requiring companies and financial institutions to set CO2 reduction goals based on scientific evidence
