Kyoto, Japan – June 20, 2023 – SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has made a cash donation to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR, the UN refugee agency)*1 via Japan for UNHCR, a national partner of UNHCR in Japan, using a matching gift1 scheme to fund activities for refugee protection and support.

SCREEN introduced a matching gift scheme*2 last year in October to solicit donation from employees all the year around, as an effort to continuously support refugees. Money collected as a result will be donated every year on the World Refugee Day (June 20). This year, a total of JPY 1,456,600 collected until May 2023 were donated to UNHCR.

*1. UNHCR: the UN refugee agency is mandated to lead and resolve refugee problems worldwide. It has its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. It collaborates with various partners and is active in as many as 135 countries around the world to extend support to refugees, internally displaced persons (IDP), and stateless people. It received the Nobel Prize in 1954 and 1981.
