Kyoto, Japan – December 8, 2021 – SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has announced its support for the recommendations published by the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD),* established by the Financial Stability Board (FSB). SCREEN has also joined the TCFD Consortium, comprised of companies and financial institutions that have previously endorsed these recommendations.

The SCREEN Group is actively involved in the development of initiatives that prioritize environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. These efforts include helping to address climate change in line with the Paris Agreement and working to resolve the social issues targeted by the United Nations in its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Group has established a variety of objectives and embodied them in “Sustainable Value 2023,” a set of guidelines designed to improve its social value over the medium term plan.

SCREEN’s announcement of support for the TCFD recommendations and joining of the TCFD Consortium is a clear indication of its intention to continue voluntarily and proactively releasing relevant information and promoting its environmentally friendly business operations. Through these activities, the Group hopes to further reduce its impact on the environment, contribute to the creation of a low-carbon and recycling-oriented society and generally build a world in which humans can live harmoniously with nature as they develop a more sustainable future.

* The TCFD is an organization established by the FSB to identify and publicize the financial impacts of the risks and opportunities created by climate change. In June 2017, the TCFD published its recommendations and has since been encouraging both companies and organizations to release relevant information related to their governance, strategies, risk management, indicators and goals.
