SCREEN acquires shares in LQUOM, startup which develops quantum communication systems
SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. (SCREEN HD, President & CEO: Masato Goto) has acquired shares in LQUOM, Inc. (headquarters: Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan; representative director: Kazuya Niizeki), a startup which develops quantum communication systems, quantum repeaters, and related technologies to realize the quantum internet.
The quantum internet is essential for commercialization and social implementation of quantum computing. A key challenge there is to establish a mechanism for stable and secure quantum communications and distributed quantum computing. Quantum repeaters are considered as a fundamental technology for this challenge.
LQUOM, which we will invest in, is a quantum technology startup from Yokohama National University. It develops quantum communication systems, quantum repeaters, and related technologies to realize the quantum internet.
By combining our proprietary technologies and insights with LQUOM's quantum repeaters, we contribute to commercialization and social implementation of stable and secure quantum communications. Building on the equity partnership with the said company, we will secure business entry opportunities into the quantum technology sector as well as the telecommunication ecosystem.
