Kyoto, Japan – October 3, 2016 – SCREEN Holdings Co., Ltd. has provided funding for US venture startup Zeptor Corporation (headquarters: San Jose, California, CEO: Tatsunori Suzuki). Based in Silicon Valley, Zeptor is a leader in the development of next-generation lithium ion batteries.
 
Zeptor has considerable expertise in semiconductor manufacturing and the application of related technologies to lithium ion battery development. The company has been attracting attention for its success in a highly challenging project to create a useable silicon-based anode material. It also possesses a variety of technologies supporting the development of the compact, high-capacity batteries required for smartphones and other mobile devices as well as electric vehicles.
 
SCREEN has also had considerable success in the development of high-viscosity coating equipment that utilizes its proprietary surface processing technologies. Recently, the company has been using its expertise in equipment technologies to cooperate with Zeptor on related technical development. This cooperation has now led SCREEN to provide Zeptor with the funding required to support its development and mass production of next-generation batteries.
 
SCREEN expects its collaboration with Zeptor to create increased synergies that will help to accelerate its efforts to build an equipment production business in the new energy field. It also anticipates the closer relationship will make a significant contribution to the growth of the market for lithium ion batteries.
