Notes of LabProof SE V2.02

Please use LabProof SE after reading this document carefully.

[New features]

1. Canon iPF8300S/6300S are supported newly.
   • Printer runs by using the printer plug-in software. (Necessary to install Plug-in)
   • Dot proof mode can be used. (Optional Dot proof license is required)
   • Printer is calibrated as stable by the execution of the printer calibration on the panel.(Continuous tone mode only)
2. Embedded ESPON spectrophotometer can also be used for linearizing a printer.
   • Embedded spectrophotometer can be used for linearizing and calibration of the printer when creating a new print queue using the Setup Wizard, even if no reference printer file is selected.
   • Embedded spectrophotometer can also be used for relinearizing a printer even after printer queue setting is completed.
3. Hide and display the part of job preview in main window.
   • Hide and display the lower part of the main window that contains the job preview, File Info and Drop Area can be done by clicking the small arrow next to "info".
4. Enlarge Job Preview.
   • Job preview image can be enlarged and displayed in a separate window along with the File Info by clicking the preview image or the new icon located above the preview (to the right of "info").
5. Selecting Multiple Jobs.
   • It is possible to select multiple jobs of a print queue in one go. All selected jobs can be started, deleted or reprinted at the same time.
6. Canceling Running Print Jobs.
   • Running print jobs can be canceled by clicking the "Emergency stop" button at the top right of the main window. Select the jobs to be canceled before clicking this button. A new icon with a red background appears in the "Status" column to indicate the cancellation request.
   • All printer queues are stopped by clicking the "Emergency stop" button without choosing jobs.
7. Importing and Exporting Queues.
   • Print queues can be exported to a ZIP archive file. The ZIP file can then be imported as a new print queue.
   • This allows to make backup copies of a print queue and to transfer a print queue to another computer.
8. Job Control and print queue from client user.
   • Controlling print queues and jobs are also available to client users. Icons "Start", "Stop", "Start 1 Job" and "Emergency stop" have been added.
   • If user permission is not set, the corresponding icon is grayed out or invisible.
9. Scheduled database backup.
   • Database can be backed up automatically at a regular interval.
   • Print jobs or queue settings files (e.g. Print_CC files) are not included in a backup copy.
10. Allowance of maximum Delta E of LabProof monitor Profile.
    • Maximum color allowance between monitor and output profile could only be specified.

[Improved point from V2.01]

• LabProof Certify can be used in the mode of Scatter proof using EPSON SpectroProofer. (It doesn't work if Scatter proof is adjusted by manually)
• Up to 32767 copies can be designated.
• Scatter proof manager can only be opened if print queue with scatter proofing enabled is selected.
• All of the queue’s settings files such as *.DAT and *.SCG are also duplicated and assigned to the new print queue.
• Proofs printed with Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 on Metallic proof film using white ink and the printing methods of Dot proof have a better quality owing to an increased color space.
• When creating reference printer profiles for Epson Stylus Pro WT-7900 printers, it is no longer possible to print white behind the test chart (white background). White ink can only be printed for a spot color or the background of the entire page.
• The dialog for selecting the measurement device no longer appears automatically when creating new spot colors by measurement. To select the measurement device, click the new "Select" button in the "Manual Spot Color Input" dialog.
• The list of print jobs can also be sorted by document type clicking on the column header named Type.
• Java 6 Update 22 is supported. (Drop area will be displayed if Java 6 Update 22 is used)
• Color bars for the certification of dot proof are always printed correctly even if they are positioned vertically near the left or right page margin.
• Switching off the noise filter had no effect when color-matching a printer using the Setup Wizard and the printer’s embedded measurement device (e.g. Epson SpectroProofer). The noise filter was applied.
• Problem apache Web Service crashed intermittently under certain conditions is fixed.
• Printing large 1-bit TIFF files no longer fails if the jobs are rotated manually using the Scatter Proof Manager.
• Colors of images and tints are now printed correctly when the "Apply Misregistration" function is used.
• Paper white calibration error is fixed when creating new spot colors after running the Spot Color Correction Wizard.
• Separated 1-bit TIFF files are combined correctly into a print job, even if they contain spot color files with a name that includes the name of a process color (e.g. SPOTBLACK).
• Second page of plural output becomes no longer abnormal setting with "Process color substitution" in "Spot color correction".

[Restrictions from V2.02]

• Stylus Pro WT7900
  • Any spot color name of color white can be used like white, color1,etc. But spot color name of color white must be the same for all jobs if two or more jobs are printed by scatter proof.
• Job on scatter proof is not deleted automatically. Delete queue by manually after complete printing.
• Relinearizing using SpectroProofer is not supported by Dot proof.
• Restart LabProofSE to use LabProof Certify immediately after adjusting color matching using external spectrometer such as I1iSis.

[Restrictions from former version]

• Soft proof function is available instead of preview function. However, Automatic printing function using timer, soft proof in scatter proof mode are not available.
• Functional folders such as move folder are not available since improvement in a load balance function.
• Output time of dot proof may increase around 10% from V1.20 depending on PC conditions.
• One waiting time can be set up for all folders. Waiting time cannot be changed for each file and two or more files.
• It is necessary to create a hot folder newly when upgrading from a previous version. The color-table such as CAL and DAT can be used.
• IP address is required when using LabProof SE by a server & client.
• The color table for dot proof cannot be created for the printer which does not support best quality mode. Color table for dot proof can not be created for Canon W8400 and W6400.

[Option software]

1. DotProof option
   • Half-tone DotTIFF is outputted by high quality.
2. Multiple printer option
   • Output to two or more printers simultaneously.
   • Computation time with multiple printer option needs more time than use one printer.
   • Two or more printers can be connected by LabProofSE, but work only one printer at a time.
   • One set of a printer can be added by one set of option license. The number of option license united with the number of the printer is required.
3. LabProof Certify
   • Judged whether color matching accuracy would meet the standard (Examples FOGRA and GRACol and user setup) as a proof.
   • Certification mark will printed outside proof area by Stylus Pro 9900/7900.
4. Trueflow cooperation option
   • Output proof according to the directions ticket from Trueflow, and Trueflow can receive status from LabProofSE. (Respond by 4.0 or more Trueflow)
   • Tiling function is not controlled by ticket from Trueflow.

[New installation]

1. Double click "LabProof SE V2.02.exe" to start installation.
2. Please click O.K, since the message that repeals "Fire wall" and "Windows Defender" is displayed during installation, and advance installation.
3. LabProof SE V2.02 is installed in C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2 folder.
4. License is not necessary to input since is already installed.
5. In order to connect with a server from client using fixed IP address, Port 80 in windows FireWall of server needs to be set up.Please input and save 80 by the addition of a port.

[Version up from V2.01]

1. The latest application is downloadable from the download page of website of Screen.
   http://www.screen.co.jp/ga_dtp/en/download/
   
2. Double click "LabProof SE V2.02.exe" to start installation.
3. No license is required.

[Version up from V1.XX]

Be careful application will not start any more, if update is done from 1.VX version to V2.02 without license.
Version down have to be done, after once deleting application.

3. Double click "LabProof SE V2.02.exe" to start installation.
4. Please click O.K, since the message that repeals "Fire wall" and "Windows Defender" is displayed during installation, and advance installation.
5. LabProof SE V2.02 is installed in C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2 folder.
6. LabProof SE V2.02 will be installed in another folder from LabProof SE V 1.XX already installed.
   V1.XX C:\Program Files\DainipponScreen
   V2.02 C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2
   Common Files folder is merged into V1.XX.
7. In order to connect with a server from client using fixed IP address. Click exceptions tab from Windows FireWall, and input name as "LabProof" port as 80 from Add port.
   

[Uninstallation]

1. Recommended to stop fire wall and anti virus software during uninstallation.
2. If LabProof SE V2.02 is installed　functions, such as Apache and SQL will be installed simultaneously, but it is necessary to do uninstallation individually.
3. Delete following applications from control panel
   LabProof SE
   LabProof Certify
   LabProof SE Printer Port
   MySQL Server X.XX (Please click O.K., although a message is displayed in the middle of uninstallation.)
   MySQL Connector/ODBC X.XX
   Apache HTTP Server X.XX
   Any are sufficient as the turn of deletion.

[Note before to use]

1. Printer connection specification.
   LabProof SE has proprietary driver which enable quality output for the following printers. Necessary to install attached Windows driver beforehand.
   The connection method with a printer is as follows.
   
   

   EPSON Stylus Pro WT7900, 9900, 7900

   Port should consist of "Standard TCP/IP ports." Built-in Spectroproofer cannot be used by other connection.

   EPSON Stylus Pro 9800, 7800, 9880, 7880

   Connection with ether or USB network.
   Port should consist of "Standard TCP/IP ports." Built-in Spectroproofer cannot be used in other connection.

   EPSON Stylus Pro 10600UC, 9600, 7600, 9500, 7500

   Connection with ether or USB network.
   For connecting with ether network, necessary to install optional ether network card.
   EPSON Stylus Pro 10600UC, 9500, 7500 use USB1.0 connection.

   Canon iPF8300S, 6300S, 8300, 6350, 8100, 8000, 8000S, 6100S, 6100

   Connection with USB or ether network.

   Canon W8400, W6400

   Connection with USB or ether network. For connecting with ether network, necessary to install optional ether network card.

   Canon W8200PG, W6200

   Connection with USB or ether network.
   For connecting with USB, necessary to install an optional USB card.

   HP Z2100

   Port should consist of "HP Standard TCP/IP ports." Built-in Spectro meter cannot be used by other connection.

   Other printers

   LabProof SE is able to output to other type of printer using GDI driver. Function such as "Keep primary black" is not available.

2. Multiple printers
   • In order to output to two or more printers simultaneously "Multi printer option" is required.
3. File format recommended
   • TIFF file format is recommended. PDF and EPS file is recommended only when output multi-color data.
4. Standard target ICC profile
   • Please use the sample target ICC profile in the "ICC" folder of the Extras folder of DVD. Put ICC profile in to following paths.
     C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2\Common Files\ICC
5. DIC color guide library
   • Copy following files
     DIC ColorGuide101.Lab
     DIC ColorGuide101.OSC
     into
     C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2\Common Files\CC
     DIC color guide is installed automatically.
   • To compare spot color by LabProof Certify option using DIC color guide library, copy "DIC ColorGuide101.Lab" file into following address.
     C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2\LabProof Certify\Standards\Spot Color Libraries
6. Reference printer profile
   • Copy following file into
     C:\Program Files\DainipponScreenV2\Common Files\ICC\Reference Printer Profiles
     files to be copied
     DVD:\Extras\reference printer profile\XXXXXXXX.rfp
     Please read a document in the "document" folder of DVD.
7. Connection with Macintosh OS 9
   • PCMacLan is required. (PCMacLan is not supported by Windows Vista)
8. Upgrade license
   • Password file corresponding to a dongle number is required in order to change the license of LabProofSE.
   • Please install Password file since a password file is in the license CD enclosed by the product.
   • Keep in mind that a dongle number is required beforehand at the time of upgrade or option order.
9. Demonstration mode
   • LabProof SE demonstrates for 30 days even if dongle is not connected. The watermark of [SCREEN] is printed at the time of an output.
   • LabProof Certify moves by demonstration mode during 30 days. license,is required to use exceeding 30 days.
   • Other optional features cannot be used by demonstration mode.

[Notes to use]

1. Hot folder setup
   • When output folder of RIP system is set as hot folder of LabProof SE, check OFF "Scan also subdirectories" from setting window of print queue if RIP creates sub folder in a output folder.
   • Create a hot folder in PC of LabProofSE in connecting with RIP based on Macintosh.
   • Change login name of LabProof-Service when connecting with Trueflow.
2. Color matching accuracy
   • The maximum of Delta E may get more than 8, 9 sometimes. It is because of difference in gamut between printing ink and ink-jet ink.
   • If you set on the function "Keep primary black", the color accuracy of only BK color worsens.
   • Cyan or Magenta ink will be mixed in Black even if "Keep primary black" function is ON in case of EPSON printer.
3. Calibration by using reference printer
   • Turn on the "Keep primary black" function from "File/Preference and APC/ACM tab"to output black color only. This setting is set to OFF after install LabProof SE. This setting cannot set up from a client.
4. Dot proof
   • Repetition of linearization should be done by 1-2 times and move to calibration operation.
   • Select "normal" when creating calibration of reference printer.
5. Computation time of multiple printer option
   • Computation time of dot proof with multiple printer option needs more time than use 8 bit data.
6. Use of Canon iPF8300S/6300S.
   • Necessary to re- download Media configuration file when PCB is replaced or Setting /Adj.Menu -> System Setup -> Reset PapSetngs is set by printer panel.
7. Usage of Stylus Pro WT7900
   • Install communication Driver from driver CD or downloading from Web site of EPSON. "Stylus Pro WT7900 Comm Driver" is displayed on device and printer of control panel.
   • Do test print by LabProofSE since "Stylus Pro WT7900 Comm Driver" does not have function of test print.
   • Recommend to use unidirection print mode for both Dotproof and Continuous mode using color white by WT7900.
8. Spectro meter built-in Stylus Pro 9900/7900, Z2100.
   • Linearization requires following time from chart output to measure completion.
     Stylus Pro 9900 / 720dpi output: About 4 minutes.
     Z2100 /300x300->600dpi: About 6 minutes (when drying time is set up in 0 minute).
   • The chart for a printer calibration and a color collection requires the following time from an output to measure completion.
     Stylus Pro 9900 / 720dpi output: About 17 minutes.
     Z2100 300x300->600dpi output: About 22 minutes (when drying time is set up in 0 minute).
9. Connection with HP Z2100
   • Printer driver needs to use a "H.P. Designjet Z2100 series raster driver installer."
   • Rotation setup cannot be performed at the time of a calibration and a color collection.
