Work Size PCB Visual Color Inspection System WI-8500

Incorporating visual color inspection technologies into high-precision work size inspection

WI-8500

The WI-8500 is a visual color inspection system for work size printed circuit boards. It incorporates Dainippon Screen's original color image capture and image processing systems, which were cultivated in our FP series of final visual inspection systems. As a result, it meets and exceeds user expectations by offering fast, accurate inspections (10 μm resolution) of solder resist, silk, gold plating, and copper plating.

FEATURES

  1. 10 μm color image inspections are adaptable to a wide range of applications
The WI-8500 is ideal for the inspection of PCBs used in automotive and amusement applications, where inspection requirements have become increasingly strict, as well as a wide range of other applications, including flexible and package PCBs, and PCBs for LCD drivers and various types of modules.
In addition to final visual inspections, this unit can also be used for inspections after SR processes and flexible PCB cover lay processes, thus contributing to both process improvements and increased yield.
  2. Abundant functions ideally suited to work size PCBs
In the case of PCBs with multiple pieces, the WI-8500 has a function that reads data from CAM data, creates inspection areas for an individual piece of the PCB, and then applies this same inspection areas to all pieces at once. Preparations for inspections can thus be completed in a short time.
Pieces marked as defects in an upstream process can also be skipped in the inspection for increased efficiency.
  3. Achieving greater effectiveness in the detection of defects close to edges
Due to the particular characteristics of the solder mask, cover lay and silkscreen processes, positional inaccuracy inevitably occurs. As a result, how to anticipate this inaccuracy and inspect edge areas becomes a major point in measuring the actual defect detection capability of visual inspection equipment.
Screen’s visual inspection technology features real-time color image processing that utilizes our proprietary inspection hardware. The ability of this processing to also detect defects near edges without increasing false calls has already been refined in the FP-8000 series.
We now offer you this technology in the WI-8500, where it successfully handles the multiple scanning operations required for work size PCBs.
