Work Size PCB Visual Color Inspection System WI-8000
Prevents Structural Failures and Contributes to Improved Yield Rates

The WI-8000 is a visual inspection system designed to detect the fine defects that occur on work-size substrates during intermediate processes. This system features the leading color inspection technology developed for Screen’s FP-8000 series of final visual inspection equipment.
The WI-8000 quickly locates structural failures such as solder-resist stripping around silkscreen and solder adhered to minute areas of solder-resist stripping, which are difficult to detect and correct in the final process. This technology makes a major contribution to improving yield rates.
FEATURES
- Expanding the detection performance of the FP-8000 series of final visual inspectors to intermediate processes
The output of the current final visual inspection process is simply intended to guarantee the quality of shipped products. However, by applying the detection performance of the FP-8000 series to the inspection processes following resist coating or silkscreen printing, correction of stripped solder mask, etc. becomes far easier. In addition to preventing structural failures and halting the onward flow of defects, this approach significantly improves yield rates. This is, in essence, the concept that underpins Screen’s new WI-8000 system.

- Extending the detection performance to also include the final visual inspection process
As the successor to the FP-8000 series of final visual inspectors, the WI-8000 moves beyond the proven performance offered by this technology. This allows the WI-8000 to be used in large-size inspection applications that could not previously be handled with the FP-8000 series. - Compact design
Due to the particular characteristics of the solder mask and silkscreen processes, positional inaccuracy inevitably occurs. As a result, how to anticipate this inaccuracy and inspect edge areas becomes a major point in measuring the actual defect detection capability of visual inspection equipment. Screen’s visual inspection technology features real-time color image processing that utilizes our proprietary inspection hardware. The ability of this processing to also detect defects near edges without increasing false calls has already been refined in the FP-8000 series. We now offer you this technology in the WI-8000, where it successfully handles the multiple scanning operations required for work size substrates.
