Dainippon Screen Receives ISO9001 Certification for
Scanners and Film Recorders

Kyoto, April 4, 1997--On February 21, 1997, Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd., (headquarters: Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto; president: Akira Ishida) received ISO9001 certification of its Graphic Arts Division's Digital Devices Engineering Department from TUV Reinland Japan Ltd. for meeting international standards. TUV Reinland Japan Ltd. is a member of TUV CERT located in Germany, which operates under the auspices of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

The ISO9001 certification was granted to the Digital Devices Engineering Department for the development and design of graphic arts equipment, which include scanners and film recorders. The certification represents international recognition of the engineering department's quality designing processes.

In July 1994, Dainippon Screen established an Environmental Management Department to promote stable product quality and provide guidance on environmental issues. In September 1994, the Company formed a specialized team tasked with earning ISO9000- and ISO14000-series certification for Dainippon Screen. The Digital Devices Engineering Department is the fourth of the Company's departments to receive ISO9000-series certification; the Graphic Arts Division's Hikone Manufacturing Department received ISO9001 certification in January 1996; the Electronic Components Division's CRT Masks Production Department received ISO9002 certification in April 1996; the Graphic Arts Division's Kyoto Manufacturing Department received ISO 9002 certification in December 1996.

The entire company remains dedicated to earning certifications for meeting international standards.
