Dainippon Screen's Annual Report 1996
Receives Silver Award in International Business Communications Competition

Kyoto, March 21, 1997--Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd., (headquarters: Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto; president: Akira Ishida) was honored with the Mercury Silver Award for its "Annual Report 1996".

Now in their 10th year, the Mercury Awards are international recognitions of excellence and creativity in corporate communication materials, and are known as the "Oscars" of the corporate public relations world. Publications are evaluated for concept and design, with particular emphasis on the effective presentation of the corporate message.

Recognized as a finalist in last year's competition, this was the fourth time Dainippon Screen has been honored with one of these coveted awards. Chosen from among more than 800 hundred works submitted to Mercury jury from around the world, this year's Silver Award is the highest prize the company has yet received.

Dainippon Screen's "Annual Report 1996" was created with the theme "Our Declaration of Aspiration". The company had successfully weathered an extended period of adversity, recovered commercial vitality, and healthily bounced back into the black. The Report artistically introduced the company's guiding philosophical imagery and the course it must pursue through current market upheavals, as well as pointing out areas with robust potential for continued evolution and development.
